Ed, when you purchase a computer with the OS and software pre installed 
the installation files are in a separate partition on the hard drive and 
some provision is normally made for the owner to make a set of install 
disks. Check your documentation that came with the computer or look in 
All programs/Accessories/system tools from the start button. You 
sometimes have only ONE opportunity to make this disk or set of disks or 
can only do it ONE time.
