We don't even know what his problem is
"no disk.check with fdisk,no partition." is rather vague.

If FDISK can't find a partition, why did XP? (he booted up an XP CD to
upgrade?). The first step is see if the MBR, or some Windows files
need fixing (after verifying that the HD is detected).
