I would lean towards the Sony LCD projection TV --No motor or synchro circuits like the DLP has to have (color wheel). Bulb is Mercury vapor so my guess is it will last a long time. It's light for your worn out back, you can make the missus HELP YOU carry it around if she's into room re-organizing.....and of course it's LCD, a technology that's been around a while. 52" was about $3300.00 at Best Buy, DLP about $3800.00.
