The fact that there is no record function leads me to believe that this
VCR was designed to be used as a play only unit for video rental stores.
Since all their rentals are SP tapes, there would be no need for the
playback of EP tapes.

Jim,
I would be extremely careful with that tooth brush, if you brush the
heads
at right angle to the tape path you can very easily chip the heads. I
use
small strips of paper and alcohol wiping the heads back and forth, again
in
the direction of tape travel repeating with clean strips as needed. Any
good
head cleaner can be used and the paper is cheap. Works for me.
