Jeff::

My Expectations of NESDA were alot higher than what my actual
experience with them was. I suppose the main reason I lost interest was the
Parts_Link proposal I offered. Not so much as a "Thanks Anyway." from them -
Which was quite against the normal Business ettiquette I am use to when I
deal with just about any Company or Group, either in the USA or not. Some
NESDA members actually thought I was angry or had a grudge against them
resulting from this. It does sort of project a bit of an "Eliteist" attitude
I suppose....I mean I could Understand if I asked for help Fixing a TV from
them or something, then the cold Shoulder would be expected and understood.

Its just a shame they could not see the benefit attained by broadening
the Parts Resources to their Members by teaming up with my group somehow. I
figure the Way this industry has its ups and downs it would be an asset to
have more sources with the way NLA Parts keep increasing every year.

This is not a subject that needs to be discussed on this list.
Anyone interested can get more information at
http://nesda.com/servicers/benefits.html.
I must say, I have built relationships with many of the members of NESDA and
some have gone above and
beyond what they have needed to do for me....from personal phone calls, to
certain contacts they had, that
I didn't.
This link lists many, but not all the benefits..instead of listening to one
or two "OPINIONS", anyone can
find out for themselves without any obligation or risks.
Any organization is only as good as it's members and as good as it's members
will let it get..
I feel the same about this list...many, many people go above and beyond and
I try to show my appreciation
as much as possible.
And, for those that do not "have the time to help others", don't you think
if you can find the time to
post for help, you could find 10 minutes to go through the posts (browsing
the subject lines)and see where
you may be able to 'return the favor'.
As they say...soap box off..

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy
enough people to make it worth the
effort.

Al,
What happens when the guy next door joins as well?
I don't know if it's really possible to attract individual customers in this
business.
They need you when they need you, otherwise the servicer is a non-entity.
The usual retail type techniques are too inefficient for us since we cannot
generate "impulse buy" interest.

As you say, it IS every man for himself! You are a wise man not to share
your promotional ideas with a competitor, it can only come back to bite you.
However, what does NESDA do other than collect dues and throw a party?
All their "programs" can be found elsewhere as well.

If you enjoy the convention and veteran member cliques, then I suppose it's
worth it for you. I was more interested in improving the lot of the service
business in the US (and Canada). I didn't fit in.
Hey, it's all about choices! To each his own...
