With 98SE and proper installation it should set up as a standard CD-ROM
drive, then the software that is packaged with it, or third party software,
makes it possible to burn. Sounds like you have a bad drive.

W98SE.
I believe he tried it as master and slave.
The unit came to me only a CD Rom, but I was told the prev. owner did
have a Plextor CDRW in it I think that was removed.
