Hi Tom,
May be a shorted convergence IC. I have has at least one Toshiba that
shutdown with the red LED blinking and all was OK after replacing both
ICs. In my case I could see the convergence fall apart just before it
shutdown (was intermittent). Maybe a chip in yours is plenty shorted.
