I agree Phil: Not only is the pressure intense with the customer looking at
you the whole time, these newer sets without the learning curve learned
always seem to make you look bad. I am very confident with sets that I have
worked on before and can even joke with the customer while repairing them, I
usually even know the bad parts and bring them with me. New sets and 1st
timers always get pulled if the fuse and basic checks are good. I found out
the hard way learning a convergence procedure in front of a customer is
embarrassing. I get that bad boy in the shop where I can learn in private.

You mean you are actually going back and try troubleshooting this in
his home???After the first quick checks, it would be on the way to my
shop. These are a challange under perfect conditions!I never could
concieve how  techs actually duplicate their well equipped, well lit
bench behind a TV in  dim living room on the floor.You sir are a
better man than I.Please let me know how you do.
