Actually rca and ge tvs as we knew them have not existed since about
1989,
the story goes like this, ge bought rca, which owned nbc, banquet foods,
burlington mills, hertz rent a car, hazeltine research, sarnoff labs,
and
randomhouse publishing, and last but not least their consumer
electronics
company, this was at the time the largest non oil buyout ever,ge started
selling what it did not want(everything except nbc), and then made an
offer
to thomson of france, to swap their combined consumer electronics
company
for thomson's medical equipment division, seems as though ge really
started
thomson, then the french nationalized it, now it appears that the french
have decided to take advantage of the "so called global economy" and buy
into the chinese producers so they can sell fine products along with
funai
and apex etc, pretty sad
