No, the newer VCR's are just cheaper than buying a roach trap! Well, you know, two weeks later the eggs will hatch. We used to spray the inside of a garbage bag with roach insecticide, put the infested vcr in the bag, tie it closed and let it sit for 3 to 4 weeks. Then we would take it outside, open it up, remove the cover, and blow it out well with an air hose. If there were any signs of life - back in a bag and repeat the process. Some of the vcrs were none-repairable because the droppings had corroded away traces, components, solder joints, and made some of the exposed leads none-solderable. If the vcr survived, we would install some adhesive backed roach strips to try to delay a new infestation. In those days vcrs cost $500 to $1000. Strange, but I dont see roach infestation in the newer vcrs. Some chemical odor or sound must be repelling them.
