If that set was made in 200 it should have a MK9 mechanism. They had a common problem of bad caps causing immediate shutdown, including C594, C574 and C572. Also check IC602, the 5 volt regulator. And it could also be the mode switch since it is part of the main board, not the VCR, on this model. Does this VCR have the front load driven by the capstan motor? If so it is best to replace the switch and not try to clean it. John.
