In case anyone wants to know...
After Ty directed me to the site zip file on this camera (THANKS!), I was able
to find the problem.
Between the tip file and the exploded view diagram I found that Item 765
(pressure roller arm) was very slightly bent , perhaps 3mm.
After making it parallel to the pinch roller, everything worked fine.
