It turned out to be a shorting CRT. That set played here for 6 months daily OK. probably the bouncing going home. I isolated the CRT filament pins,ran a lead down to the fly and did a "wrap" on the core to isolate it. Tapped the tube a few times, it flashed a bit then settled down. The reason it had gone dead was the GMA 6.3V DC fuse had also opened up. The fuse and CRT isolation seemed to do the trick. It was a freebee. Phil Bader Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc.
