Don, It is normal for these to run searing hot ! Your shutdown problem may be else where. As long as the B+ is stable from the STR circuit , it should be OK. Double check the main board for poor connections on all the heatsinked devices & TO220 type cases. Check electrolytics around the hybrid shutdown IC ( The stand up greenish IC near the H-sweep circuit) Jeff Stielau Shoreline Electronics Repair 125 Beech Tree Lane Westbrook, CT 06498 860-399-1861 860-664-3535 (fax) ----- Original Message ----- From: <MagLfixIt4ya@xxxxxxx> To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, February 08, 2002 10:04 AM Subject: [TechAssist] Sony KV20EXR20 IC651 runs too hot > > Hello all, IC651 STRS6301 (no suffix "A") gets way too hot, after only 10 min > of play the heatsink cannot even be touched and the set intermittently shuts > down, it may take minutes, may take hours or even days but it will shut down, > I replaced it along with all the electrolytic caps on that board and Q611, > same thing, B+ is normal and steady, I have no print so Im not sure of the > other outputs, anyone have past experience with wht might be causing this? > Any help is appreciated. > Don from Affordable Electronics > 153 Garfield Place > Brooklyn, NY 11215 > 718-788-0384 > 718-788-2326 fax > ------------------------------------------ > Make your TechAssist database better! > Submit Repair Tips here: http://www.tech-assist.org/secure/tip/ > ------------------------------------------ > To UNSUBSCRIBE your email address, click here: > mailto:techassist-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe > Or send a BLANK email with unsubscribe in the > SUBJECT field to the address above. > > ------------------------------------------ Make your TechAssist database better!
