Would agree with Walter, about the only time you'll get violet arcing in the
neck of a tube is when its integrity has been has been destroyed. You likely
have a pinhole in the neck of the tube. Peter Kowalik pe.kow@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Subject: [TechAssist] Sony KPR-46ex35 crt bad ?

Hi all,
Did a service call on the above 1991 Sony projo, when power is pressed the
end of the green crt glows violet for a second then shuts down. Is this a
sure indication that the crt has gone bad or is there a chance that there
might be another problem in the video circuit. This tube is going to be hell
taking out and installing so I would like to be as sure as possible.
All inputs are appreciated.
