Mark, your set probably won't flash the LED with a lightning strike dead.
There are probably many bad parts on that board from my experience with Sony
HS Lightning sets. There is a cap that goes bad sometimes, on the
deflection/power board, it will actually buckle at the top, not sure of
board location, since I am here at home. That will cause your symptoms.
Usually, besides the main fuse bad, when that cap is bad, replacing it will
fix the set. What I do is get the customer to at least approve a
remanufactured board first, thru Sony or tritronics, and my labor, then
troubleshoot it further or send it off. The board should only be around
$250, then you don't have to worry about recalls on weakened components that
don't show up until the set is back home.
