Will, Whenever you find shorted Horizontal Output shorted...ya gotta ask your self.....what made this fail? 99% of the time if you pop a new one in with no resolution on why it failed....it will no doubt fail again. Typically either 3 things occur..... 1) Too much B+ on the collector 2) Improper drive on the base 3) Excessive load from the flyback or horizontal support circuitry. One your set , more than likely the flyback is at fault. Do you have the gear to ring it or drive it with the set not plugged in ( Sencore products) Make sure you use a quality 2SC5148....not a SK/NTE/ECG replacement See this tip also...... --------------------------------------------------------------- Text pasted from WinSTIPS 2.0 http://www.ServiceSoftware.com --------------------------------------------------------------- SONY KP53S65 Dead Mcgregor TV Service Q502 Horizontal Output Short 2sc5148 C514 Burnt 100pf To 680 Pf 2/Kv According To Hv --------------------------------------------------------------- ================================= Jeff Stielau Shoreline Electronics Repair 344 East Main Street Clinton,CT 06413 (860)399-1861 (860)664-3535 FAX jstielau@xxxxxxxx ================================= ----- Original Message ----- From: <WWill90634@xxxxxxx> To: <Techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, November 16, 2005 10:52 AM Subject: [TechAssist] Sony KP-48S65R Shut Down > We have this Sony KP-48S65 in for service.
