Will,

Whenever you find shorted Horizontal Output shorted...ya gotta ask your
self.....what made this fail?

99% of the time if you pop a new one in with no resolution on why it
failed....it will no doubt fail again.

Typically either 3 things occur.....

1) Too much B+ on the collector

2) Improper drive on the base

3) Excessive load from the flyback or horizontal support circuitry.

One your set , more than likely the flyback is at fault.

Do you have the gear to ring it or drive it with the set not plugged in (
Sencore products)

Make sure you use a quality 2SC5148....not a SK/NTE/ECG replacement
