[TechAssist] Sony CD HCD-D117 laser assy KSS-240A, how to adjust gain?

Sorry, I didn't put model number in first post.
I have a Sony CD player which plays most discs fine but a few sputter
before locking in and I'm thinking maybe just tweaking the gain on the
laser assembly would help. This one has 3 trim pots. Which ones do I
need to adjust, or is it a case where all 3 must be aligned and I
shouldn't attempt it? This part is $60.00 CDN at my supplier so I doubt
the customer would go for it. Probably cheaper at US sources but
exchange, brokerage fee, etc. might not be worth it?
