Absolutely ! I always change the spindle motor when I change the laser, learnt the hard way on that one. Usually the spindle motor develops "wow" . Seeing as 6 audio tracks on a CD only occupy the width of a human hair, it doesn't take much lateral drift to make the laser mis-track. I have tried to see if I can make the shaft of these motors wiggle side to side after I take em out, but the play is so small you can't tell. You can tell though because your player doesn't skip anymore.
