First, I had low 5VDC in places, thought the micro was bad and that was
too expensive, so customer passed. became shop salvage for a rainey day.
It sprinkled today.
I bought the expensive micro (IC1001, RH-1X1750CEZZ) from Jeff
Dougherty at
Intrepid Video TV/VCR for a very fair salvage price. Made it worth while.
Installed that and still was dead. Further inspection, I located a small
trace burnt open that went to a Zener diode D1901. It was shorted. Rated
at 5.1 volt (RH-EX0131CEZZ). This zener did go to pin 38 of that micro,
so I did need that IC as well I'm sure.
Fix was to jumper trace, replace micro IC1001 and 5.1 volt zener D1901,
located in the shielded area with the micro.
Looked storm related.
Fixed.
