I have had only two experiences with Sencore equipment. Both were bad and I
never did continue with their over priced equipment. The first experience
was many years ago with a Horizontal Sweep analyzer. It burned up and they
didn't offer any repair support. No service nor parts. The second
experience was similar. I had won a FET checker as a door prize at one of
their seminars (You guys remember those don't you? Where they brain wash
you into thinking you can't do without their equipment). I accidentally
zapped it. I tried to get it repaired. Again no support for service or
parts. They claimed that since I didn't actually purchase it, I was not
eligible to get it serviced. I wasn't trying to claim warranty but that did
not matter. Needless to say, I don't use Sencore PERIOD!
Now B&K is another story. I zapped a logic probe and it again was my fault.
The lead that goes to the 5 volt source fell off and hit a higher voltage
supply. It was about three years old and well out of warranty. I needed an
IC for it. Available from them only. They sold it to me at a very
reasonable price but it still didn't work. I sent it in for repair and was
surprised when they sent it back to me... NO CHARGE. I can say Sencore sure
didn't take care of me like that. Most of my equipment is B&K...Now you
know why.
