Having a problem with this 3-disc player

Replaced laser pickup and spindle motor and flex cable
from CN111 jack to laser assembly
Spins very fast, but won't read disc info
Spindle motor sometimes reverses direction then quits and
goes to next disc and the process starts all over again.
Has anybody experienced this problem ?
Are we missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ernie
