Ed, this set uses a TDA8358J as the vertical output IC. I have replaced 5 caps around the vertical heatsink and still no difference. Also replaced a couple of them on the CRT board, along with the blue 0.0022uF disc cap at the G2 pin. Does anyone have a print of the deflection circuit for this model? (sorry but I don't see a chassis number anywhere on it). I want to check the B+ line and the blanking to the vertical. One thing I should mention is the flyback I just got for the set. The original one had this number on it: MCJ-29A005 11226239 The one I received has this number on it: MCJ-29A003 11226237 Otherwise, they both look to be identical. I have played with the screen control some more. When I take it down to the very low end, instead of the picture going totally black, it does another thing. The contrast goes really high. Is this a function of some sort of IK circuit trying to compensate?
