OK, I'll bite. Have never had a bad color wheel, just lamps on DLP's. maybe because we don't see many Samsungs around here, (Those high quality sets). Can someone explain what the heck the color wheel is and the procedure to change it? Is there a door like the lamp or do you have to take a portion of the back off and peel off layered boards to get to it? Some say 1/2 hour job and some say 2 hours. Is it all mechanical or is there electrical alignments too. A color wheel sounds like something they used in the 50's that you put in front of a TV to make it a color TV. What were those things called?? Would like to have the Samsung job explained like we have explained in detail about changing fluid on Philips coolant jobs. Please, Thanks. If the noise starts right away at turn on, and stops right away at turn off it is probably the color wheel.
