[TechAssist] SONY SLV-380 *Won't Shut OFF*

I have a SONY SLV380 Vcr that when first plugged in will accept tape and play
no problem.
If you EJECT tape once it will no longer accept tape, the VCR will not shut off
unless you unplug it. If you wait about a half hour until unit is cold and
plug in it goes through the same routine.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
