Since I did not have another BUH517 I experimented with a 2SD1878
(NTE2331) and replaced C4105 10uf at 200 volts.
Set has several hours on Sat & Sun and still today. HOT is running cool.
Maybe I got it.

=A0=A0=A0=A0He's got to save the .max file as a jpg file with the same
scanning program. .max files are fairly exotic, it is better not to use
them, I am afraid only ONE
graphic problem is able to deal with them...though Photoshop might open
them, not sure..

You don't need to create a .pdf from a scan, a plain jpg is smaller and
can be opened by ANY graphics program

Phil, I tried again and could not open the MAX file. Maybe they found

the Acrobat reader pops up saying they can not open it.
Thanks.

Yes Jim, I installed it last night to try to open your attachment but
maybe I am not smart enough. Well when you are pushing 75 maybe it was a
senior moment.

I will try it again.
Thanks.

Do you have Winzip installed? It's a free download from many places,
search Google or any of the download sites.

I will try that. I don't have the RCA # for it. Maybe Jason at Excel
will have it.

Sorry Jim I could not open the zip file but will try to get some help on
it.
Thanks to everyone.

Try an OEM RCA part or from another supplier ( B & D Enterprises or
Electrosound...etc)

I'll bet that will solve the problem.

I got the last ones at MAT Electronics in PA. I will do some more
checking on this and let the group know before I throw it in the Wabash

Well I did fire it up and it lasted less than 5 minutes. Another HOT
shorted.
Oh well back to the drawing board.
Thanks Jim for the file.

Thanks Jim. Send it to mbonnell@shawneelink,net.

The model is F32672SB.

Also thanks to Phil, Bob & Jeff for your replys.

Problem is: I repaired the set last month by replacing the HOT (BUH517)
and found nothing else wrong & sent it home. I got it back with the HOT
shorted, then replaced it and found a bad connection on T4301. Measuring
from ground to the collector on the HOT reads about 20K ohms. Is that
normal?

That is a somewhat rare version of the CTC187 chassis I think,
PartsFinder shows it was used in only two models. PartsFinder shows the
service manual is on the Jan 1, 1998 CD ROM which did not come with a
subscription and I don't have it. There is a zip file for CTC187CL3 that
I can send to you on the chance it may help if you want. Let me know if
and where to send it.
