Perry,
I am guilty of not calling the techline, too. However, the reason to
call the techline is not to repair the set, but to show an effort, and
then they can replace the set. There is an "official" record that you
did something.
I have received a grand total of One fix from a techline call. A Sony.
Every other call was just to show a contact.
