Phil,
    Actually after dealing with the 1st one (a F36650 that blew up the HOT 
2x) pulled and rang the next set's, (a 32" with the exact same chassis #), 
Flyback 1st--- no rings, set was essentially in a shutdown state. Since they 
were the same chassis as yours thought it might be a plausible high failure 
scererio with a slighty atypical symptom.

Phil,
      Had a similar problem, can't remember chassis but it was a newer one..
Had B+  and 5 and 12 were ok. But pushing the power button the +5V supply
dropped to like 1V... Found two 1000/35V caps in power supply one had HI ERS
replacing one corrected the problem..If your set has these caps you may want
to check... I thought I posted it but may have been another chassis, or my
mind is failing from old age...
