Neil, you most likely have a G2 short and is easily removed. Pull the crt
board, put a clip lead on the G2 pin the other end to a long screwdriver.
Fire the set up then off. Discharge the crt into that pin. If it doesn't
work the first time, do it again. The crt is already toast so you don't have
alot to lose. Before trying all this, check the G1 pin when it's happening.
Should be around 21 volts or so. If you're getting more than 100, then the
G1 bypass cap is bad. HTH
