A customer brought me this VCR. RCA model number VR354. FCC ID c5f7nf0006 It is the first of these I have seen. It tried to play a tape, but would at a very slow speed, with pic still not good on pause. Rewind and fast foreward were sporadic. I noticed that in play mode the pinch roller was not making contact with the capstan shaft. I found the tension spring for the pinch roller arm has one end which locates in a groove on the worm gear cam and the portion near where it fits in the gear limits the travel of the pinch roller arm, which has a notch to receive that portion of the spring. The spring had popped out of the notch. I slipped it into the notch, and it seems to work perfectly now. My question is has anybody had any experience with these? Will this stay fixed, or should there be some sort of retainer clip that has broken or fallen off to keep this from happening? Also I accidentally found while looking up the FCC-ID to see who was the blame for this, that a schematic for this is available in the documentation submitted for type acceptance in the form of a pdf file. http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/ ( maybe they have schematics available for something worth fixing ) Mike Goins jmgoins.tn@xxxxxxxxxxx ================================= Help make your TechAssist database better!
