Came in dead with the 2SD1885 HOT shorted. With this, my fix is usually a "scan kit" I put together including: 2SD1885 C4401, .0162/1600v, 206009 C4402, .056/400v, 200149 C4403, .5/250v, 200150 (orig was a .48mfd) C4406, 470pf/2kv 227068 CR4401, 242907 CR4402, 243636 This usually cures a shorting HOT. I also, for good measure, changed CR4118 and three lytics in the smps: 2.2mfd,15mfd and the 47mfd (orig. was 39mfd) Unit powered up with beautiful picture and played OK. I reentered the room 15 min later and dead again with a shorted HOT. Clipped HOT collector, plugged set in ,measured HOT DC supply at collector and is +146VDC standby, normal. I installed another 2SD1885 (Must note that both my two replacement HOT transistors were both "SK" series 2sd1885). The set once again powers on with good full picture, good regulation and sharpness. BUT... The HOT seems to get uncomfortably warm to touch after a few minutes. Possibly this is what destroyed my first repl. part. Fly's are not commonly bad in the 169's,especially in this way . What am I missing? The SK brand parts? What else is there? Phil -- Philip Bader Jan Phyl TV Inc. (estab. 1976) 3420 Recker Hwy.
