Thanks Max, I have a schematic for CTC169. Schematic says 4.9V at pin 24 of the micro and I am measuring that but shouldn't there be data here when any OSG are displayed. I see nothing! My question still remains, what should I see at pin 24 when OSG is working. What I did was grab a remote to check certain things out, what I found is I can select channels via the tuner, I can select channel 91 and make A/V inputs the source, I can adjust volume and change channels. What I can't do is adjust video or audio or get into the setup screen. There is no OSG, I'm not sure if I have a complete schematic here as I can not find what IC does the OSG. I need some help with this OSG stuff please. As soon as the TV is turned "ON" the A/V inputs are selected as the source, pressing CH up or down does nothing, VOL up and down works, other then that no OSG when SETUP, AUDIO or VIDEO is pressed. So basically I have no tuner being selected as the source and no OSG. My question is what IC generates the OSG? Has anyone seen this problem before? On the 5V reg q4160e is a coil L3101, this splits the "two" 5V supplies and lifting one end might tell which path the current is following. The SAMS says q4161 has a 29mA current flow, for what that is worth, but they don't tell us about the 5V paths. U3101 pins: 18 on/off 31-32 crystal 33 reset low 40 data 41 clock 42 5v The reset pin, 33, is feed by the 12v supply true zener cr3101 with r3116 2400 ohms to ground. The 12 V supply is sourced by transformer T4601, diodes cr4601-4. Q4161c connects to cr4603/4 cathodes and is 22v. Q4161e is the 12V standby source, which also feeds q4160, the 5V standby reg. Q4160e being the 5v supply. It has been a long time since I have seen one of these, so this is from memory. Looking down at the component side of the board with the tuner on your left. Towards the left hand side look for a diode that in standby has voltage on the anode but not on the cathode, if so, change it.
