We use a piece of chamois to clean the video heads and a Q-Tip to clean
everything else. You can buy a chamois at a auto parts store and cut it up
into 1 inch squares for a lifetime supply. Beware of the Q-Tips with the
plastic shaft as the cotton is glued on and the solvents attack the glue.
Even if the tip doesnt come off you may deposit some glue on the tape path.
A long time ago a Korean engineer from Funai stopped by to train our techs
on one of their new vcr mechanisms and he demonstrated using solvent on a
paper business card to clean the heads.
