This chassis does not support this type of menu driven system. That system was for the CTC178, and 179. Not the CTC170. This one does have a menu system, but it is not like the one the previous writer is describing. This symptom is probably do to a defect in the Pixel Graphics module. It is the module that stands vertically on the signal board on the far right hand side. It is in a shielded module. When this chassis is "ON" the Pixel Graphics module takes over the system control from U3101. Remove this module and disassemble it. Inspect it for poor solder connections, and possibly a contaminant, caused by some of the brown colored circuit board bumpers, leaking out and on to the board. These bumpers are a round disk with sticky glue on the back. They dry out, crack, then leak. I would not replace any micro or EEPROM until you check the Pixel Graphics board first.
