Might try cleaning and lubing the rails....they may be so dirty or dry that it
will
not allow the pick-up unit to scan fully.

Subject: [TechAssist] Pioneer Cd PDM-601

Greetings:
I have this older CD Player, a Pioneer PDM-601, it's
player that uses the 'magasine' type of loading
system.(6 Cd's in a pack that slides into the unit)
The problem I am having is that it only plays 1/2 (or
less) of the cd, basically only tracks 1 to 4, if you
attempt to say skip to track 5 of a CD, and try to
play it, the unit simply returns the Cd to the
magasine and gets the next one.(and it will only play
1/2 of that one too)
I know that this is an issue that was encountered
before with this unit, as I found reference to it at
other forums, but the fix was not there.
Anyone remember what the repair was on this one?
