Friends, I wonder what I've missed? Came in as deck, would just click. Jumped right on the vertical output 7401. Replaced it (STV9379/932212147687) along with burnt resistors 3488, 3491, & 3492. Found a note that diode 6404 was changed to a 75-volt zener. This is a late production set and had the zener in it. Changed it anyway. Also changed diode 6487 and cap 2487/100 ufd, 50 v). A month later, it came back dead again, with V/O shorted and resistor 3488 open. This time, resistors 3491 & 3491 were OK. Changed the whole mess again and the set is up. Question is for how long? Yes, I used NAP parts and cleaned off the old heatsink grease and applied new. BTW, the cap and the diodes tested good. The chip was shorted p4 to p5--same as in the original repair. After two hours of testing, the heat sink measures 105F. Your thoughts are welcome.
