D825 R2KL (140v cascade diode) many times shorts can indicate that C820
(next to regulator) went bad usually shows up as a short in the B+ though.
Not powering could be the capacitors in the regulator circuit, bad
connections, a bad regulator STR58041A. Have seen lighting cause a shorted
micro that loads the 5V supply. sometimes caps or other parts fail in the 5v
standby. Note on regulator must use the A variant NTE part in my experience
doesn't work in this series set.

What is the location of the diode you mention in this post? I have =
one
that won't power on and I thought maybe it might be the diode you =
mentioned
in this post. Or if you have any other ideas feel free to mention them.

Set is Blowing the HOT. Original is BU2508DF subbed 2SD1880 =
(from B&D) Set flux up and propmptly Blew the HOT. Was going to ring the =
Flyback. Any familiar scenerios.?... this is the Chassis that uses the=20
STR58041, that usually has the small cascade diode that blows (this one=20
didn't),2 tuner PIP with the aux tuner on a small seprate board, and has =
the
upright plugin pincuishon board.
