Working on an Olympus VXS-405U SVHS Camcorder, another Experienced Tech said that its the same as a Panasonic PV-S350, and it seems to be corect. It uses the Panasonic Mode Switch that is very Popular in their VCR line (P-EVQWXD001) its a Black Mode Switch with a White rotating gear that supposedly aligns with the notch on the base, but am unsure if the gear mark is the Dot, or the post sticking up on it? I think on VCR's you align the marks when the mechanism is fully ejected....but with a Camcorder, an empty Deck is considered with the door closed? I'm not sure if I changed the mode switch with a new one the last time I worked on this a month ago - but I remember playing with the alignment with the door shut a few times, and I still have a problem that sounds like a motor is running trying to turn a belt but is slipping - possibly due to the mode switch not being set properly, or just a loose belt, but I cannot see where this belt is at the moment. The Capstan drive belt does turn and spins the take-up gear as if in play, ( no tape in, just closed door) and the drum spins up then looses power while the Take up reel continues, then the whole deck powers down. Any Input appreciated. Steve Technotronic Dimensions, NY (USA) www.100megspop2.com/techforce 1-877-817-9885 ------------------------------------------ Make your TechAssist database better!
