Comcast gives me 7 mailboxes, so besides the Hoyts TV email address, I have
one that I use for the Jeep lists, one that I use for the Chrysler New
Yorker lists, my personal one "Russ Hoyt" , and one for my wife. I also have
a non descript one that I use when I respond to any place I consider
questionable. That one gets all kinds of weird stuff at times that usually
dies out quickly, due to a lack of responses from me I assume. The Jeep
address seems to get most of the crap. I assume that's because it's in so
many other guys address books, or messages get forwarded without the "to"
list being stripped. The Jeep lists are on Yahoo Groups so they can be read
by anyone, you just have to join the group to be able to send to it. I used
to get two a day in the Chrysler mailbox that had as a subject "Warning
sexually oriented material" or something like that. I haven't seen them for
a while. There was nothing in the email itself but a poorly written
invitation to a url. That was the strangest of all because those lists are
handled by a guy in Canada, through a server that he apparently pays for,
and he doesn't tolerate any off topic posts at all. That one and the TV
mailbox are the ones where I get almost no junk email.
A while back, Comcast sent us a notice claiming that somehow a junk mailer
got ahold of all their email addresses.
