Wolfe,
Didn't they teach you in computer school, allot is not a word?
It should be "a lot".
If you wish to criticize others for helping out, you should really use your
spell

Howdy...

Now what do you call a professional who does the work for money because they
enjoy the work? A paid professional? No, as a professional is already
being paid.

Most people are what I call an utters, but a few, like myself are titters.
These names come from the abbreviateions UTR, and TITR.

An utter (UTR) is an Unintelligent Tape Recorder. These are people with
allot of "book smarts", but nothing more. They can give you all the details
about something in the field they work in, but they do not understand the
underlying principals, mechanics, or fundamentals that applies to the
information in question.

A titter (TITR) is a Thinking Intelligent Tape Recorder. These are people
with allot of common sense, and not only can recite the principals of their
work back to you, they also understand them as well. These are the movers,
and shakers in their workplace when it comes to items in their area of
specialization.

Titters tend to excel, and expand their knowledge in their profession, and
they receive good pay for being dedicated to their work. Though, they are
often shunned off by utters because they are scared about their own job
security with people like this around.

During Y2K, I was gracious, and nice to my clients, and did not charge an
exhorbant amount for developing Y2K solutions to custom written software. I
was only charging $42.50 per hour, rather than over $100 per hour for
programming in a computer programming language that very few people knew.

An utter on the other hand would have charged as much as they could get, and
then some during this crisis BECAUSE they are only in the field for the
money. The problem is they tend to take longer to complete a task than
necessary, and when a problem comes up, if they have not left, they do not
know where to start to fix it, and have to call in the titters to fix it.

I am a professional, but I excel at what I do, and expect nothing less than
perfection of myself. I expect the same from others who want me to pay them
for work they do for me. I work for my money, and to expect anything less
from them degrades the value of my work.

Wolfe

Getting off the subject, and honestly NOT trying to start a fight:
I once heard the definition of an amateur as being one who does
something because they love to do it, a proffessional on the other
hand was somebody who does what they do for the money.

Using these observations, I think I'd label Wolfe a paid amatuer.
He seems to love his work AND he gets paid to do it. Me? I'm a
proffessional :o

P.S. The bennies are that I can work on what I want, When I want,
as I see fit. So, I guess I'll stay with this a few (20 or 30)
more years :)
