Either you used a poor sub (D518)...or CRT is your problem. (Intermittent). May want to take Bob's suggestion and go with his Part Number (OEM), since I see it has been subbed to another. Changing Diode and Resistor has always solved my KV-27TS30/32 problems. -Ed- Tel-Tek Electronics Ontario-Canada teltek3@xxxxxxxxxxxx teltek@xxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:techassist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Kevin's TV Repair Sent: Friday, June 10, 2005 5:58 PM To: techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TechAssist] Re: NOT FIXED, Sony KV-27TS30, why would R587 open? I thought this set was fixed. But it only lasted a few minutes and R587 opened up again. I replaced D518 with an ECG580 not touching the board. Is this an acceptable replacement? Thanks for all who replied. I did find 2 black marks under D518. Replacing it and R587 repaired this set. What causes the burn marks? Is there a partial short along the length of the diode on the outside which causes this? Thanks. Kevin, this was common back then, replace resistor and the 1000v rectifier diode as well, it shorts under load. If you remove the diode you will usually see a burn spot under diode.
