Jim,
I'm looking at the VS 5006 manual, but the power supply should be the same
as the VS 4001. D955 is one of the supply diodes on the 2ndary supply.
Supplies 220v to crt cathodes.....THAT's AN RU-3 diode on most if not all
2ndary sources.

If the Vs 4001 manual isn't around, try ANY VS 4000 or 5000 series. Most
will have the same power supply board in them.
This diode is located on the T902 transformer?? The one driven by STR-S5041
smps IC?
That RU3 diode should cross over to NTE, if my memory serves me correctly
it's an NTE 580.
That should not be a Schottkey......
