Yes, replacing the resistor did restore VCC to the chip and no I did not replace the output IC yet since I will have to order it. I am sure that a vertical drive signal is required for the output IC to produce deflection and there is none on any of the 9 pins so I would like to know where this drive signal comes from since I will probably have to order two IC's. Guess I'm so used to reading between the lines now I'm starting to write between the lines too.
