All,
I wish to (publically) thank everyone that has helped me in the past. I
haven't personally thanked anyone, and am sure I really could have taken the
time to do that. It does add to our email count.... I can't say I've read
any complaints about 'thank-you' emails! Thanks again.

Personally, I see no problem with researching information before house
calls, and I'm a bit sad to hear it aggravates others. We're not all in
populated areas where we might see the same make/model set twice in three
years. I expect I've probably seen most every model of most brands ONCE
due to the buying patterns of the local population, so it would be unlikely
I'd be proficient at any. RCA/GE is the only common brand here ('cuz of
lower retail pricing!), and I haven't seen three Zenith this year, much
less ever had one with the common "shorted tube". My (few) service calls
are usually 60+ miles away, and I very much appreciate any knowlege I can
gain before leaving the shop. I thank you all for your patience.

If we're "voted against" and non-techs are allowed in, I believe there
should be a sig file requirement. It won't be the answer, likely due to
software, etc. Non-techs on the list is not in our best interest for
several reasons, and I'm sure we can all list a few. It would also restrict
some posted questions, as it would be inappropriate to publically ask
"what's a fair charge for....?"

This list and others like it is a valuable tool for us all.
