I dont Do any warranty work Since way back when I was a Tech at Tandy. The ol NARDA Forms.....ewww. It could be worse if you operated in Florida or L.I. NY where the Laws for TV Shops are ridiculus....then I dont think you could Legally do this Solution I mention. Heres what I do in your shoes: Write up an Invoice for this Job, and Send it to toe Client. The Invoice will have the previous Argeement with Parts & Labor for the Job....along with some sort of Timeframe / Date Promised by...like a ballpark figure. Certify the Letter while you are at it, if you can. Give the Guy a certain Date he has to pay for the repair, else the Item will be considered Abandoned, and become property of your Business if unclaimed. Technicly, you can charge Storage Fees after a certain time too. If he comes to Pick it up , tell him the work is already done, and its not economical for you to remove the Tube after you performed an alignment etc. Its the same thing they bring a Car to the Shop & did this. You have the right to not give up the product , technicly there is a lien on it. The labor > is out of warranty, but the tube is covered. I quoted the customer the labor > estimate and he approved. After I ordered the $600 plus tube and installed > it and set the unit up, and was ready to deliver it, I was shocked to find > out that the customer is negotiating with Sony to cover the labor. He does > not want to pay me now, and it has been two weeks and Sony can not find the > time to fax me a authorization number so I can file my warranty. I can not > even file my $600 tube warranty until I get that authorization. ***************************************************************************** The Tech Address Book: http://www.tech-assist.org/secure/tip/contact.html Add a Repair Tip Here, or Change/Remove your Email Address: http://www.tech-assist.org/secure/tip/main.html Lost Password: http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Lost your Login Info?".
