Shaun,
I don't know if this is the same as your set but I had a strange symptom si=
milar to yours that turned out to be the ground connector from the CRT dag =
was not connected to the proper place.  The connector it goes to is just in=
 front of the flyback as you are looking from the back.  Usually it is a si=
ngle white wire but I have seen them in black as well. I think it is in the=
 ABL circuit.
