Power button on TVCR was defective. Also had switch on remote in wrong
position..has to be in vcr position...duh..

Jerry,
I had a CCZ134AT01 that had a similar problem, would play a tape OK, but
would only stay on about 3 seconds if turned on without inserting a tape. It
also sounded like it was trying to load a tape, with no tape in the unit.
Ended up being a bad tape end sensor causing the problem. Just something you
may want to check.
