It sure is Kevin. The Magnetic field surrounding a lightning discharge is 
quite powerful.

Sometimes this happens to a Monitor, and the shadow mask becomes magnetized 
/ damaged  permanently.

Is it possible for lightning to magnetize a TV?  A customer had
lightning strike his house and the TV works but the tube was
magnetized--all the colors were off.  Demagnetizing it cured it.
