The scope is not what should be isolated, the unit under t.e.s.t. is what
should be isolated. The UUT should be isolated from scope, soldering iron,
etc.

We have all our scopes on their own iso transformers. But we had to cut all
the grounding pins off the plugs. Why do they make an isolation transformer
and then give it a common ground through the ground pin on the three wire
line cord?
