Russ,
Contact Hitachi for free...
www.hitachiserviceusa.com
I'm sure they will help...
If this is model year 2003, look for a cracked mode slide...long plastic slide
on bottom of VCR deck.

Subject: [TechAssist] Hitachi DVD/VCR

I have a Hitachi DVD/VCR that is my personal unit.
Model DV-PF2U

Not long after I bought it the tuning quit and I took it to the warranty
servicer.
They replaced: OVSA12074 AC Head
                        QSZBA0RSY012 IC

Now it's just over a year old and the VCR has stopped working.
It is a Funai mechanism and the capstan motor doesn't run so when you put in
a tape it loads then is left hanging out of the cassette on eject.

Does anyone know of a common problem/cure?

I have no desire to waste a lot of troubleshooting time on it as I consider
it a piece of junk anyway. If I had known it was made by Funai, I wouldn't
have bought it. I thought Hitachi was better than that.

Then again, I remember about twenty years ago, finding a Hitachi TV that was
made by GE.
